Life Values

Life gets busy and everyday bring new challenges and opportunities. I welcome you to sit down with your family and ask each other “What are your top five values?” As we get older, our values may change and that’s okay. By sitting down and doing this activity with your family, you will have the opportunity to learn more about them. What do they consider important for themselves, for their partners and loved one?

This is list of values but feel free to add your own values if you do not see them on the list.

My top five values are:

1.     Gratitude – I practice gratitude in the morning, throughout the day and the end of the day. I am thankful to be here and helping my family, the community I work with and have my health. Even on the hard days, I find something to be thankful for.

2.     Determination – Getting my BCBA and starting my own company was filled with doubt but I was determined to leave my mark and help those around me. When life doesn’t go according to my plan, I regroup and find a new way to achieve my goal. At times, it can be hard but I know I can achieve my dreams.

3.     Sense of humor – (this isn’t on the list) but I appreciate laughter. There is always something to laugh about whether I am watching my favorite movie or telling jokes with my family. As a cancer survivor, funny movies helped me through my treatment; “Laughter is the best medicine”

4.     Kindness – even though I need to improve on practicing kindness in my own life, I do appreciate the small things that people do for me and I know a little bit of kindness can go along way for someone. Be kind and do something nice for someone.

5.     Love – love for me is everything. Love is an umbrella for all of the values; loyalty, honesty, acceptance, support, fairness and so much more. With love from my inner circle, I know I am not alone in my journey and I can do anything.

Now that you know a little about me, sit down and do this with your loved ones.
